Overview

This qualification is aimed at those working at Level 2 as assistants or voluntary workers (under supervision with a limited range of responsibilities) and those who wish to undertake a qualification which will enable them to gain employment working with children.

Mandatory units

  • Unit 01:Contribute to maintaining a safe environment for children under 8 years.
  • Unit 02:Contribute to the provision of equal opportunities for children under 8 years.
  • Unit 03:Provide appropriate play activities for children under 8 years.
  • Unit 04:Early Years Curriculum.

Optional units

candidates must complete either Option 1 or Option 2 to achieve the full certificate).

Option 1:

  • Unit 05 Working with babies in a crèche.
  • Unit 06 Use play skills in a crèche.

Option 2:

  • Unit 07 Work with young children in a pre-school playgroup.
  • Unit 08 Support the work of the pre-school playgroup within the community.
