Practical Parenting in the Homehttp://www.newera.coop/services/practicalparentinginthehomeWhy has this service been developed?http://www.newera.coop/services/practicalparentinginthehome#a1In 2001 New Era received funding from Burnley's SRB6 programme to investigate the needs of families in Burnley Wood and Brunshaw. As part of this project support was provided on an outreach basis to a small number of families. The project received referrals from a wide range of agencies - many more than could be dealt with. This indicated that whilst agencies were eager to work in partnership to help very needy families, no-one was able to provide the intensive 'hands-on' support which many families needed in order to help them to make significant steps out of their difficulties.

What is Practical Parenting in the Home?http://www.newera.coop/services/practicalparentinginthehome#a2More than advice and guidance it is an intensive and structured intervention designed to change behaviours and imbed good practice to improve the quality of all members of the family and enable them to play a full and active part in the community in which they live, learn, work and play.

The SRB and Urban 2 funding for this project ended on 31st December 2006 so we are unable to take new referrals without making a charge. If you think that it would benefit a family with whom you are working to receive Practical Parenting Support and you are able to pay for the service please ring Ann Marie Wrigley on 01282 435302 or e-mail mail@newera-burnley.co.uk or mail@newera-burnley.co.uk for more information about how we may be able to help and to discuss our fees.

In addition Practical Parenting staff can undertake diagnostic reviews. For a standard fee of £595. Fully qualified and experienced staff will review case histories, conduct interviews with family members and involved practitioners. We will prepare a full report for you which will include recommendations for action and a list of appropriate sources of help from local statutory and voluntary services.

The Key worker for Practical Parenting in the Home is Ann Marie Wrigley
