This is the continuation and expansion of an existing project to help homeless people or people at risk of becoming homeless in Burnley secure or retain their homes and improve their lifestyles. The project will provide a package of intensive support helping the beneficiaries to address all aspects of their lives in parallel including lifestyle, career and health issues through individual plans. The beneficiaries experience barriers in their lives including substance and alcohol misuse, lack of skills and financial management, homelessness, mental health problems and unemployment.

New Era Training and Assessment Centre was established in 2001 and specialises in delivering training for practitioners who work with children and young people.
New Era has designed Level 2 and Level 3 courses that are delivered in just over 16 weeks, allowing practitioners to reach their full potential quickly and efficiently.
For example students starting the level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce in September 2011 can have achieved their qualification and be working at level 3 and/or applying for suitable employment by March 2012.
New Era is aware that fast track courses such as ours need dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable teachers to give you the specialist support and guidance necessary to ensure that you achieve your goal quickly. We are a small team of experienced childcare professionals who understand the paid/voluntary roles that you undertake at your setting and because of our expertise we can help you translate your existing knowledge into evidence that you need to provide for your portfolio.
When asked what they enjoyed about learning at New Era students replied:
"The work is fast track which suits me brilliantly and the staff are friendly, approachable and very supportive". (Level 2 student July 2011)
"The course delivery and content was absolutely fantastic, I enjoyed the fast track nature of it as it was a great motivational factor. The staff and assessors were friendly and enthusiastic". (Level 2 student July 2011)
"Friendly tutors, relaxed atmosphere and my time there is not wasted as we are always busy during the lessons". (Level 3 student April 2011)
New Era Enterprises can provide training for 16 - 18 year olds completing an apprenticeship in Children & Young People's Workforce.
We can provide and fund the necessary academic training to ensure that your apprentice receives all the relevant Qualifications. Your apprentice would receive specific training to suit the role you want them to play as an individual within your childcare provision. All costs would be covered with the exception of your apprentice's wage. Employers are now expected to employ an apprentice for a minimum of 30 hours per week at a rate of £2.50 per hour. This amounts to £75 per week. The government have also allowed certain employers to offer part time apprenticeships of 16 hours plus. Your apprentice's time would be split between your childcare provision and receiving training from New Era's highly qualified childcare team.

Candidates who successfully complete an Apprenticeship will receive:
An Award or Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce at Level 2 or 3
English, Maths and ICT
Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS)
A Paediatric First Aid Qualification
If you require further information on New Era's apprenticeships programmes, please contact us on 01282 435302 or e-mail at mail@newera-burnley.co.uk
Childcare training courses
Level 2 Developing Skills for Early Years Practice aims to provide the childcare sector with workers qualified at Level 2.
Continuous Professional Development is particularly important to those who work with children and it is becoming increasingly a requirement if they wish to retain their professional status. New Era Enterprises this week launched a new service which will help childcare workers and teachers to keep up their skills and meet the requirements of their professional associations.
Each of the series of workshops covers a different topic from working with children with special needs, using multicultural resources in play to keeping up with the requirements of the new Early Years Foundation Stage standards and there are many more from which to choose.
Workshops can be delivered flexibly at times to suit the participants and in any suitable venue. They usually last for two and a half hours and participants receive a certificate which verifies the time spent and learning undertaken.
The service was warmly welcomed by a number of managers of pre-school and out of school settings when it was launched at Aintree racecourse this week and those who have experienced New Era’s courses in the past are already looking forward to these workshops.
‘New Era training is always thought provoking’ said a New Era student this week, ‘I learn a lot and they are interesting and fun too. I feel refreshed at the end of our evening sessions even though I have arrived tired after a hard day working with children’’
